Aluminum Association Partners with JARC Community Garden to Provide
Opportunities to Adults with Developmental Disabilities
ARLINGTON, Va., May 6, 2010 (News Release) —
The Aluminum Association’s Cans for Causes Program is excited to
assist JARC Community Garden, an organization founded in 1986 to provide
opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities such as autism,
and mental retardation.
“We have a few training programs on our campus here in Boca
Raton, Florida, [cafe, maintenance, mail fulfillment], however, the
garden is a fairly new, un-funded, donation-based, training program that
we hope to develop into a full-time program,” said Kimberli Swann,
Community Garden Developer. “Monies raised through recycling
on our campus will be used to purchase seeds, plants, fertilizer,
benches to rest on, potting tables and hopefully one day, a wheelchair
accessible pathway.”
For more information on JARC Community Garden visit www.jarcfl.org or
call (561) 558-2550.
CANS for CAUSES is a domestic program sponsored by the Aluminum
Association to support organizations in their recycle efforts by
providing free bins and bin liners. For more information visit www.aluminum.org.
