Anheuser-Busch Recycling Celebrates 30 Years, 460 Billion UBCs

St. Louis, Mo., November 1, 2008 - Recycling Today Magazine - Anheuser-Busch is celebrating the 30th year of its program to recycle aluminum cans. During the 30 years the company estimates that it has collected for recycling more than 460 billion UBCs.

As a way to commemorate its anniversary, the company has developed a new Web site that provides people with information on recycling, as well as how people can create recycling programs in their individual communities. Additionally, the company is distributing thousands of recycling containers to various A-B wholesalers to help with recycling programs.

The Web site can be found at www.powerofrecycling.com.

More than 700 suppliers still have equipment purchased by the company and use it to process and then sell directly to their partner -- Anheuser-Busch Recycling. The UBCs are sent to the company’s smelting and processing plant where they are converted into aluminum sheet. Metal Container Corp., an Anheuser-Busch subsidiary, purchases a large percentage of this processed aluminum sheet and turns it into new aluminum cans.
