The Aluminum Association Announces New Building and Construction
Committee
ARLINGTON, Va., March 3, 2009 (News Release) —
The Aluminum Association has established a new committee for its
membership. The Building and Construction Committee was approved
and officially became active this month. The group will be led by
newly elected chairman Eddie Bugg, Director of Sustainable Solutions at
Kawneer Company, Alcoa.
The committee joins the Can Committee and Auto Light and Truck Group
to provide the Aluminum Association with a strong presence in all three
major markets of the industry.
The group was created to support the Association’s
Sustainability Working Group, which was established in 2008 to promote
sustainability directly from the aluminum industry. The Working
Group—which defined sustainability as “meeting the needs of
the present without compromising the ability of future generations to
meet their own needs”—wants to see public policy, product
promotion, and recycling come together to help conserve for the
future. The Building and Construction committee will aid
sustainability messaging through end-of-life recycling rates and
use-phase environmental benefits of aluminum in Building and
Construction applications.
The committee’s founding members include Alcoa, Hydro Aluminum
North America, Jupiter Aluminum Corporation, Novelis Inc., Nichols
Aluminum and Rio Tinto Alcan.
