Steven Demetriou Elected Chairman of the Aluminum Association Board of Directors; Thomas Brackmann Elected Vice Chairman

The Aluminum Association announced its newly elected Board members at the Association’s Annual Meeting at the Hotel Palomar and Waterview Conference Center in Arlington, Virginia. Steven Demetriou (Chairman and CEO, Aleris International Inc.) has been elected Chairman and Thomas Brackmann (President, Nichols Aluminum) is Vice Chairman.

New members of the Board of Directors are Jean Simon (Rio Tinto Alcan) and Marie Kistler (Air Products and Chemicals Inc).

Jean Simon is President of Primary Metal-North America, Rio Tinto Alcan. He joined Alcan in 1979 at the Jonquière potrooms; later served as Chemicals Superintendent at the Vaudreuil Works; and subsequently was appointed to the Central Bargaining Committee for operational stability.

Marie Kistler is North America Marketing Manager-Primary Metals at Air Products and Chemicals Inc. A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science, she has held a variety of technical and commercial roles within Air Products’ Merchant Gases division.

Other Board members re-elected to new terms were Kevin Anton (Vice President, Alcoa Inc., Vice President Finance, Global Primary Products), Jean-Marc Germain (President, Novelis North America), Ian Hewett (President, Alcan Cable and Alcan International Network) and Kevin Person (Vice President Sales and Marketing, Wagstaff Inc.).
