KB Alloys' Bob Longenecker Earns 2009 Marlan Boultinghouse AwardBob Longenecker, Chairman of KB Alloys LLC, has been named the 2009 Marlan Boultinghouse Award winner for service to the aluminum industry.
“Bob Longenecker has played a vital part in the Aluminum Association and across this industry,” said President Steve Larkin. “Bob has a gift for bringing together leaders holding contrasting views. His work has promoted our metal and made the Aluminum Association stronger. This recognition is well-deserved.” Longenecker began his career in the aluminum industry in 1975 as a Product Manager. He rapidly rose in his company to become Vice President of Sales and Marketing five years later. In 1985, he was named Manager of the Aluminum Master Alloys business of KBI, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cabot Corporation. After the KBI Aluminum Master Alloy business was divested by Cabot Corporation, Longenecker was named President and CEO of KB Alloys. He continued his service to the industry following his retirement from KB Alloys in 1999. A founding member and Past Chairman of the Master Alloy and Additives Division, Longenecker has served for more than a decade on the Aluminum Association Board, where his peers and the industry have benefited from his counsel. He chairs the Board’s Government Affairs Subcommittee and the Climate Change Work Group. These two assignments have put him in the forefront of industry debate on some of the most important issues of our time. The Boultinghouse Award is presented in memory of the late ARCO Aluminum President Marlan T. Boultinghouse, who passed away on July 1, 1998. Boultinghouse brought energy and enthusiasm to the industry through his advocacy of aluminum marketing and the many technical programs he helped to advance. He served in many leadership roles, including the Aluminum Association’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee, and as Chairman of two Board committees. The award honors his commitment and dedication to the entire industry. |
