High Aluminum Content Vehicle Database Updated for 2009

The Aluminum Transportation Group (formerly known as the Auto & Light Truck Group) has updated its High Aluminum Content Vehicle Database for 2009.

The database houses information on 2009-model-year vehicles containing a minimum of 400 pounds of automotive aluminum or 10 percent of vehicle curb weight. In all, the database includes information on the aluminum content of 132 different 2009 vehicles.

Users can search the database either by vehicle model or by application.

Searching for "front door sills," for example, shows that the Audi A6, the Dodge Viper, and the Mercedes Benz SL all contain front door sills made from aluminum. Searching by car - the BMW 7 Series, for example - shows that that vehicle incorporates front fender, hood, doors, roof, side panels, and suspension made from aluminum.

The High Aluminum Content Vehicle Database can be accessed online here.
