North American Aluminum Leaders to Form Working Group to Address Issues of Mutual Interest

The Instituto del Aluminio’s (IMEDAL’s) Second International Aluminum Congress and Exhibition, held June 16-19 in Querétaro, Mexico, attracted an estimated 125 delegates from North and South America and Europe addressing a range of industry issues including sustainability, international trade, and technology. Speakers included Martin Hartlieb of Rio Tinto Alcan, Pierre Chaput of the Aluminum Association of Canada, Aluminum Association President Steve Larkin, and Association Vice President Nick Adams.

Among the conference’s highlights was a meeting among Aluminum Association members, prospective members, and IMEDAL leaders, which resulted in a proposal for a joint working group from the U.S., Mexico, and Canada to address issues of common interest within the North American aluminum industry.
