CVP Unveils Online Tool to Help Recycling Educators Develop More Effective Campaigns

The Curbside Value Partnership (CVP) has launched an online tool called CVP Connect (www.CVPConnect.org) providing free resources and guidance for recycling coordinators on how to develop, execute, and measure strategic education campaigns.

A series of webinars guides users through the maze of PR, marketing, and social media best practices. Users are also able to access tips, case studies, templates, tutorials, and even high-quality creative files that they can put into practice right away.Image

"Recycling coordinators are stretched thin. They juggle multiple jobs, including educating the public. Yet they often don't have the resources or the expertise to be as effective as possible," said Steve Thompson, CVP Executive Director. "CVP Connect is designed to take the guesswork, and the frustration, out of developing impactful education campaigns. And the best part? It's all free. I encourage all recycling educators to check it out and put the tools into practice today."

Since its public debut in 2005, CVP has worked with communities to launch and measure educational campaigns tailored to meet their unique needs, amassing a library of best practices along the way. These best practices, and more, are captured within CVP Connect and for the first time are being shared nationally, all in one place.

"Education is the most cost-effective way to improve the long-term sustainability of recycling programs—particularly curbside," said David Gill, CVP Board Chairman and Global Account Director at Novelis. "We have worked with many communities over the years to develop award-winning campaigns that move the needle. We want to make sure that every community has access to these campaigns and our best practices so they can develop their own game-changing campaigns."

CVP Connect reinforces the importance of measuring impact as a crucial component to education. Users are asked to report basic program information such as MSW tonnage and residential tonnage in order to use the tool. New training modules and content will be added to CVP Connect on an ongoing basis to incentivize users to return and to enable ongoing data reporting and measurement.

CVP is a 501(c)(3) organization designed to grow participation in curbside recycling programs nationwide. The program is currently funded by members of the Aluminum Association (Alcoa, Golden Aluminum, Novelis and Tri-Arrows Aluminum), Can Manufacturers Institute (Ball Corporation, BWAY Corporation, Crown Holdings Inc., Impress USA, Metal Container Corporation, Sonoco-Phoenix Inc., Rexam, Silgan Containers Corporation and the Van Can Company), as well as the American Chemistry Council, Coca Cola Recycling, the Grocery Manufacturers Association, and Keep America Beautiful.
