Input Sought to Update Standards on Foil and Cable Shielding Stock

Association staff participated in the recent meetings of the ASTM B07 Committee on Light Metals and Alloys and the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code Sub-Group on Non-Ferrous Alloys, held in Phoenix and Nashville, respectively. Specifications for aluminum semi-fabricated products are developed and/or updated by these committees to include the alloys and alloy-temper products registered by the Aluminum Association's Technical Committee on Product Standards, which are widely referenced in the marketplace.

Additional industry participation/input is needed in order to maintain two ASTM specifications on foil and one on cable shielding stock. To date, no companies have expressed interest in maintaining the following documents, which will be withdrawn from active status by ASTM if not updated:

• ASTM B373-00(2006) Standard Specification for Aluminum Foil for Capacitors
• ASTM B479-06 Standard Specification for Annealed Aluminum and Aluminum-Alloy Foil for Flexible Barrier, Food Contact, and Other Applications
• ASTM B736-00(2006) Standard Specification for Aluminum, Aluminum Alloy and Aluminum-Clad Steel Cable Shielding Stock
