Strategic Planning Committee Meets at Association HQ

The Aluminum Association’s Strategic Planning Committee met with Association staff at its Arlington offices earlier this month to evaluate current programs and chart a course for 2012 and beyond. 

Brock Tours Sapa Cressona Plant, Alcoa Intalco Works

Continuing her tour of member company facilities, Aluminum Association President Heidi Brock in recent weeks visited Sapa Extrusions' Cressona, Pa. operations and Alcoa Intalco Works' primary aluminum smelter facility, located in Ferndale, Wash. 

2011 Aluminum Association Annual Report Published

The Association has published its 2011 annual report, chronicling the activities and achievements of its Board, Committees, Divisions, and staff over the past year. 

Chadwick Engineering Joins Aluminum Association

Chadwick Engineering Ltd., based in Kingston, Ontario, has joined the Aluminum Association as an Associate Member. 

Recycling

CVP Partners with City of Columbus to Launch New Residential Recycling Program

The Curbside Value Partnership has partnered with the City of Columbus’ Office of the Mayor and the Department of Public Service to launch a new residential recycling program for the nation’s 15th largest city. 

Environment

EPA Extends Comment Period on Primary MACT Rule to February 1

In response to a request from the Aluminum Association, the Environmental Protection Agency has extended the comment period on the agency's primary MACT proposal by 12 days. Comments are now due on February 1.

New Edition of 'Molten Metal Incident Report' Published

The Aluminum Association has published a new edition of its Molten Metal Incident Report, containing 85 reports on incidents that occurred in 2010.

Brackmann, Brock Promote Aluminum's Sustainability in National, International Media

Continued improvement in the efficiency of manufacturing and recycling operations, and the communication of the resulting benefits to industry stakeholders, represent key objectives of the Association going forward, said Aluminum Association Chairman Tom Brackmann and President Heidi Brock in separate articles appearing in, respectively, Aluminium Times and American Metal Market

Standards

January ‘Standards Action Report’ Released

The Aluminum Association has issued its newest Standards Action Report, listing recent alloy and product standard registrations and revisions, as well as projects initiated for review by the Association’s Technical Committee on Product Standards. 

Pigments and Powder Division

Video on Safe Handling of Aluminum Powder and Paste Posted Online

The Association’s Pigments and Powder Division has posted a seven-part safety video on the Association’s website for use by Association members and the general public.
