The theme of this year's event is “Aluminum: Charting a Sustainable Course.” We are featuring speakers who will offer unique perspectives on global economic trends, front-line view of the presidential race and in-depth look into sustainability certification programs.   It’s an excellent line-up and we’re excited about it.  Speakers include:

  • Mike Allen, Chief White House Correspondent, Politico
  • Jorge Vazquez, Founder and Managing Director of HARBOR Aluminum Intelligence
  • Cassie Philips, Vice President, Sustainable Forestry, Weyerhaeuser

We’re also working on speakers and great content for the Committee and Division meetings. For example:

  • Primary Division will host a discussion on energy supply with an energy analyst from Fellon McCord and possibly an official from Dept. of Energy.
  • Sheet & Plate will have a panel discussion on workforce development featuring a member, Association staff and gov’t official.
  • Casting & Recycling will hear from the auto recycling study lead and a safety presentation on handling molten metal.
  • Gov’t Affairs has invited John Hanagan, Rusal, to share his global perspective on the trade work, and hear from our trade consultant Al Goetzl on what is required of industry to fulfill the 332 request.

These are just a few examples with more in the works.

Guest Event

On Tuesday, April 19 the Association will host a lunch for the spouses attending the Spring Meeting.  The lunch location is La Cote at the hotel.  If you're interested, please RSVP to Janet Tela.

Golf Tournament

The bus for the golf tournament will be out in front of the Fontainebleau on Monday, April 18.  The tournament will be held at the Miami Beach Golf Club.
