January 29, 2013

Comprehensive Industry Data Through 2011 Now Available in Association Bookstore

Arlington, VA.

The Aluminum Association recently released the 2011 Aluminum Statistical Review covering all statistical data available on the North American aluminum industry. The review includes information on every cycle of the aluminum production process from primary aluminum to markets for finished goods to the recovery of aluminum scrap.
Among key findings in this year's report:

  • Aluminum supply in North America increased by 2.5 percent year-over-year to 23.2 billion pounds.
  • Aluminum demand increased nearly 8 percent to 21.8 billion pounds in 2011.
  • Shipments of aluminum to the transportation industry increased 16.1 percent in 2011, while packaging and construction shipments declined 1.7 and 3.4 percent, respectively.
  • Net shipments of semi-fabricated or mill products increased 5.7 percent over the previous year to 14.9 billion pounds.

The Review is an educational tool designed to support members of the industry, financial analysts, government agencies, students and the general public.  The Review is divided into five major sections: supply, shipments, markets, foreign trade, and world statistics.  Its contents include text, tables and charts to provide year-end figures and other historic data on U.S. and Canadian shipments, markets, supply and foreign trade.

The 2011 edition contains a ten-year summary (2001-2011) as well as historical statistics on the industry. Both a downloadable version and CD edition are available in the Aluminum Association Bookstore. The Review is priced at $95 for members of The Aluminum Association and $190 for non-members, plus applicable shipping and handling.
