Dusseldorf, Germany – The new ALUMINUM USA trade show has gained a strong partner by bringing on board the Aluminum Association, the leading voice of the North American aluminum industry, as the event’s exclusive partner. The Aluminum Association will contribute concepts and ideas to the November 11-12, 2015 show in Detroit, Michigan.
Convening the global industry to showcase the strength of the North American market
Providing benefits to Aluminum Association member companies
Kick-off event: North America Automotive Lightweight Procurement Symposium
The mere announcement by trade show organizer Reed Exhibitions that it would launch ALUMINUM USA generated enormous interest in the aluminum industry. Numerous international companies have already registered to participate in the show.
“The North American aluminum industry is in a period of transformative growth and so the time is right for a centrally located trade show like ALUMINUM USA,” said Heidi Brock, President and CEO of the Aluminum Association. “We’re excited to be partnering with Reed Exhibitions to bring all of the market-leading national and international producers, suppliers and customers together in one place. We‘re especailly proud to secure benefits for our members, further strengthing the value of Association membership.”
The Association and Reed have worked together to offer discounts to Association member companies, including a 10% discount of the raw space, a 15% discount on the standard costs of any sponsorship package, and a free ¼ page ad in the ALUMINUM 2016 World Trade Fair in Dusseldorf Germany.
‘‘The Aluminum Association has a strong reputation in the United States for promoting the production and use of aluminum as the sustainable material of choice,’’ said Hans-Joachim Erbel, CEO of Reed Exhibition Germany. ‘‘Their knowledge of the market combined with our proven ability to produce a world-class trade show will create a unique opportunity for the global aluminum industry to generate new business leads, strengthen existing relationships and share best practices and products.“
Nearly 50 exhibitors have already confirmed their participation in the show. Aluminum Association members Danieli, Hazelett, SMS and Wagstaff were some of the initial U.S. companies to sign on. International organizations, such as UACJ from Japan and IMMIB, the umbrella association of the Turkish metal industry, who is bringing 15 member companies, will bring a global perspective to the show.
Reed Exhibitions is counting on 100 exhibitors and up to 2,000 trade visitors to attend the first ALUMINUM USA, which will take place in 2015, and from then on every other year, 2017 and 2019.
U.S. aluminum market growing
With the new trade show, Reed Exhibitions is intensifying its event activities in one of the world’s most important regions for the aluminum industry. The U.S. market, the aluminum industry’s third-largest global market, generates $65 billion of direct economic impact and more than 155,000 jobs in the U.S. alone. Since 2009, demand for aluminum in the United States and Canada has increased by nearly 40% – excellent prospects for international producers and processors.
And since 2013, Aluminum Association member companies have announced domestic plant expansions and planned investment totaling more than $2.3 billion. The increase in investment is intended to capture and meet anticipated demand growth for aluminum in the automotive sector as automakers strive to make lighter and more fuel-efficient vehicles. The investments announced to date could increase industry auto sheet capacity by more than 2 billion pounds over the next decade.
Metro Detroit gaining steam again
ALUMINUM USA is taking place at the Cobo Center Detroit. Emerging from the structural changes that shook up the auto industry, the Detroit metropolitan area – especially major local corporations such as General Motors, Ford and Chrysler and the region’s plant construction companies and parts suppliers – is once again benefitting from strong growth in the U.S. economy. In addition, the city hosts a number of large events, including the Detroit Auto Show and the ASAE Annual Meeting of North American trade associations.
Kicking off the first ALUMINUM USA will be the North America Automotive Lightweight Procurement Symposium 2015, which will take place in Detroit from November 9 to 11. The symposium, organized by AluMag, is the only international lecture and exhibition event focused on lightweight construction in the auto industry. It will feature keynotes and presentations by executives from carmakers and suppliers.
