Aluminum Built a Museum

Colonel Scott Willey of the Air and Space museum, who gave a private tour to the Association’s Technical Committee on Product Standards, said “Without aluminum, we wouldn’t have a museum.” From the top of the Donald D. Engen Observation Tower at the Udvar-Hazy Center –part of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum - visitors have a 360-degree bird's-eye view of Washington Dulles International Airport.  It’s a place to view aluminum in action: making human flight possible.

The Aluminum Association has finalized the 2013 edition of Aluminum Standards and Data. The first update in more than four years, Aluminum Standards and Data 2013 is the preeminent reference for aluminum mill product standards and the most complete source of information on wrought aluminum.

The Aluminum Association completed registration of one new international wrought alloy designated 7199, and registration of Maximum LT UTS Limits for 5083-H116 Sheet and Plate product.  In addition, 2024-T72Sheet product has been deactivated and added to the list of inactive tempers..

The registration of alloys and products standards follow specific rules as prescribed in the pertinent American National Standards and the registration records.  To facilitate understanding of the basic registration criteria and the information required to consider registration requests for various alloys and product standards, the below-listed forms have been created.   Each form includes a template in Word that can be completed by a potential registrant for submission to The Aluminum Association.  Sample forms are available by clicking on the live links below.
