In 1954, there were 75 registered aluminum alloys.  Today, there are more than 530 registered active compositions and that number continues to grow. That underscores how versatile and ubiquitous aluminum has become in our modern world. So what are aluminum alloys and why are they important?

Aluminum Built a Museum

Colonel Scott Willey of the Air and Space museum, who gave a private tour to the Association’s Technical Committee on Product Standards, said “Without aluminum, we wouldn’t have a museum.” From the top of the Donald D. Engen Observation Tower at the Udvar-Hazy Center –part of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum - visitors have a 360-degree bird's-eye view of Washington Dulles International Airport.  It’s a place to view aluminum in action: making human flight possible.

Aluminum Association Completes 2013 Edition of Aluminum Standards and Data

The Aluminum Association has finalized the 2013 edition of Aluminum Standards and Data. The first update in more than four years, Aluminum Standards and Data 2013 is the preeminent reference for aluminum mill product standards and the most complete source of information on wrought aluminum.

The Aluminum Association completed the tentative temper registration of Alclad 2029-T8/ Sheet and Plate. Also the temper registration status of 7099-T7451 Plate and 7099-T7651 Plate was moved from Tentative to Final.
