Matt Meenan joined the Aluminum Association in December of 2012. As Senior Director of Public Affairs, Meenan runs day-to-day media operations and all external facing communications for the association. He is also the staff executive for two of the association's major market committees, the Aluminum Transportation Group and the Can Sheet Producers Committee. During his time at the Aluminum Association, Meenan has worked with top-tier media on behalf of the industry including The Economist, CNBC, POLITICO and The Wall Street Journal. He also led redesign of the association’s website www.aluminum.org and launched the industry’s award-winning e-newsletter program, Aluminum Week.
Prior to joining the association, Meenan was a Vice President at Xenophon Strategies, a full service strategic communications, public affairs and crisis management firm in Washington, D.C. Meenan worked for a variety of clients during his 8 years at Xenophon including: The Salvation Army, the Church Benefits Association, the Dollar Coin Alliance, the U.S. Grains Council and Blank Rome, LLP/LLC. He worked on major national and international news stories including the 2004 presidential election, Hurricane Katrina, the Duke Lacrosse case and the 2010 Haiti earthquake.
Meenan completed his Master of Business Administration degree at Georgetown University in 2014 and received his BA in Political Science and Communications from Vanderbilt University in 2004. He lives in Washington, D.C. with his wife Emily, son Harrison and daughter Ellie.
