Meet The Aluminum Caucus

Association Members Talk with Representatives on Capitol Hill

Rep. Suzan DelBene (D-Wash.) addresses the Congressional Aluminum Caucus in Washington, D.C.The Aluminum Association hosted a breakfast event with members of the bipartisan Congressional Aluminum Caucus and members of the Association's Government Affairs and Environmental Committees on Thursday, July 24 in Washington, D.C.

Member representatives from Alcoa, Aleris, Hydro, Kaiser, Noranda, Rio Tinto Alcan, Scepter and Sherwin Alumina discussed auto demand for aluminum, energy regulation, recycling policy and other issues.

In attendance were Caucus co-chairs Rep. Larry Bucshon (R-Ind.), Rep. Suzan DelBene (D-Wash.), Rep. Bill Johnson (R-Ohio), as well as members Rep. Blake Farenthold (R-Texas), Rep. Alan Lowenthal (D-Calif.), Rep. David Joyce (R-Ohio) and Rep. Dave Loebsack (D-Iowa). Staff from several other Congressional offices attended as well.

Clearly the Representatives had done their homework and had meaningful things to say about the environmental benefits and economic impact of our industry. There was even a bit ofbipartisan agreement on the need for smart, data-driven decision-making in the regulatory process. The event was covered by Politico.

Following the event, Congressman Doug Collins (R-GA, 9) joined the Caucus, the 26th member of the group.  Contact Joe Quinn, the Association’s Vice President of Public Affairs, to learn more about how you can recruit your Representative to join the Caucus.
