The Aluminum Association applauded action by the Department of Energy providing a conditional loan of $259 million to Alcoa to support its automotive expansion in Alcoa, TN and the development of advanced vehicle technologies.
ARLINGTON, VA -- The Aluminum Association released the following statement on a new White House plan to reduce energy use at federal buildings by 2.5 percent per year between 2015 and 2025. A number of private companies that are major suppliers to the federal government – including IBM, GE and Honeywell – also announced voluntary emissions targets.

The aluminum can is a package built for the circular economy. A used beverage can (UBC) serves as a “technical nutrient” as it is returned to the material stream as feedstock at the end of its useful life. Aluminum cans are recycled over and over again in a closed loop process. Aluminum is also by far the most valuable material in the recycling bin on a per ton basis.
