Aluminum Association Donates Canned Water to Tornado Relief Efforts

May 6, 2011

ARLINGTON, Va., Disaster relief efforts continue in the south after a heavy-hitting tornado system struck parts of Mississippi and Alabama—both of which declared states of emergency. The Aluminum Association’s Can Committee has donated canned water to assist in relief efforts.

“Watching what these people have to go through is devastating,” said Aluminum Association President Steve Larkin. “We wanted to help in any way that we can since we all have family, friends, or members who have been affected by this tornado system.”

The Committee donated 2,100 cases of canned water, which is about 50,400 cans. These cans have been delivered to the Columbus, Mississippi Red Cross for distribution. The Columbus Red Cross has been helping 15 counties in Mississippi and Alabama with communities that remain without water and electricity. If interested in placing a donation visit
