Aluminum Association Congratulates Jamieson Greer as New U.S. Trade Representative

Aluminum Association President & CEO Charles Johnson released the following statement on Jamieson Greer's confirmation as U.S. Trade Representative:

“The Aluminum Association looks forward to working with Ambassador Greer to help promote a globally competitive U.S. aluminum industry while ensuring a level playing field for American manufacturers. The U.S. aluminum industry relies on strong trade enforcement as a key pillar of industry growth and investment. We commend President Trump on this outstanding selection and stand ready to work closely with Ambassador Greer and his team to support American workers, businesses and consumers."

The aluminum industry supports nearly 700,000 total workers and $228 billion in economic output in the United States. Since 2016, Aluminum Association member companies have announced more than $10 billion in investments for domestic manufacturing operations including new, U.S.-based greenfield facilities for the first time since the 1980s. These investments will help us to meet growing demand for aluminum, which is used in everything from cans and cars to buildings and electrical infrastructure to tanks and fighter jets.
